The story of one summer in a valley which sees half of the world go by, but where the trains no longer stop and the factories have long closed. It is also the story of Roberto, once employed in the forteresses of the Swiss Army and now a bus driver, and Roberto's love affair with a Russian chambermaid. Marina is a foreigner and is well aware of the fact. She ist prepared to fightb for her survival, and the survival of her son Kiro.
