A report on the 83 year old photoreporter Hans Staub, the first swiss photoreporter to contribute to the one-time "Zürcher Illustrierte" under Arnold Kübler, and photographic chroniclerbof the Thirties an of the war period in his own right.
The film shows Staub's memories of his photographs, Kübler's memories of his collaboration with the magazine photographer, and the gradual disappearance of the photographers after the liquidation of the magazine. It also reveals the special quality of Staub's work and the possible function of photography as "eye witness" of a historical era in a specific country.
